Warning, this is a ridiculous rant about SUNY Fredonia. Sorry.
This school looks beautiful and seems like the college of your dreams. Just wait. The campus food makes you sicker than a dog. The only place you can eat on campus without getting sick is Starbucks or Tim Horton’s and that’s way expensive. Just wait until you actually get in there and start working on your major and classes. Professors don’t care about you, they are extremely unaccommodating, they get nasty if you go to them for help, and they are extremely EXTREMELY biased against anyone who is the slightest bit conservative. I’m no right-wing extremist by any means; I support gay marriage and I’m pro choice, but if I ever voiced a single conservative view in class I was ridiculed by peers and professors. Do you know how horrible that is for someone who is already extremely afraid of speaking in class? It was terrible. This is my senior year and I’ve just given up. I’ve gone here for 4 years and I cannot wait to get out. It was wonderful the first two years-before I really started working on my major. Once you get into the classes that actually matter the professors suck. They either grade you terribly or expect you to teach yourself everything. Why would I pay thousands of dollars to teach myself?? Even when my classmates an I would try to go to heads of departments or the dean with our problems we were given the run around or they would tell us they were going to help us but they never did. This school is so bad that when they do get the occasional WONDERFUL professor, they can’t hold onto them. Almost all of the good professors that have been here have left within two years. They weren’t let go… they LEFT. Best of all they constantly are building new things and taking away parking. It is almost impossible to park on campus but they will LIE TO YOUR FACE in orientation and say parking is wonderful and they’re building new spaces this summer. They’ve been saying that for years. They also find new ways to make you pay more money every year. They only give you 6 tickets to your college graduation that you’ve paid THOUSANDS for and worked four years for. Also, This is the week before finals and my one professor still hasn’t told us if we’re having a final exam… that happens a lot too.
